Today in my Branches young adults cell group, we had a vision-seeking and sharing session. I basically asked everyone to spend some time seeking God in prayer, and then come back together to share about what they felt God was leading them towards in 2009 – both personally as individuals, as well as corporately as a cell.
While our individual leadings were fairly varied, it was interesting how our corporate visions for the cell tied in so strongly to each other. There were a few common threads that ran throughout the sharing sessions… we tried to summarise them into our “Vision Statements” for 2009. Essentially, these are what we, Branches, collectively feel God is leading us towards in 2009:
- Going deeper into knowing God’s Word and applying it more in our daily lives.
- Spending more time encouraging and nurturing each other’s spiritual lives and giftings.
- Reaching out to those around us and showing Christlike character to them in practical ways.
I’m amazed. Almost every one of the 9 people in that room had variations of at least 2 out of those 3 things in each of their private meditations. God really does work in mysterious ways, and I feel that He’s really bringing us together to pursue a common path for the year ahead. Praise Him!
Now the question is how to implement that vision for our cell group.
