Games and Interactive Media projects
- Wedding Vows (2009)
Wedding Vows is an anthology of 14 short vignettes portraying the love story of Lawrence and Rebecca, two childhood sweethearts who grew up together and got married. It shows their evolving relationship from childhood until old age, and the special moments that bind them together. A tribute to marriage and idealised love with a vintage Americana feel. Made as a personal project. See project page here.
Role: Writer, scripter / programmer, producer.
- Carneyvale: Showtime (2008)
CarneyVale: Showtime is a vertical ragdoll platform game for Xbox LIVE Indie Games. In the game, you play as Slinky, a circus acrobat trying to rise up the ranks by performing acrobatic tricks and death-defying stunts through increasingly complex arenas. Made when I was employed in the Singapore branch of the Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab. See project page here.
Role: Producer
- Rollo (2007)
Rollo is a 20-level 2D sidescrolling platform game made in Flash. You play as Rollo the Armadillo, wandering through the forest in search of bugs to eat, and bouncing up, under and through obstacles to get more bugs and more points. It was also a design experiment in procedural content creation for level design. Play game here.
Role: Game designer, producer.
- Wiip (2007)
Wiip is a PC-based casual game which explores the concept of interactivity through usage of an expressive physical interface such as the Nintendo Wii controller. It places you in the role of Mustachio, a circus ringmaster beset by bombs, bunnies, and barrel-riding cats gone out of control! In this single-player action game, you swing your Wiimote like a whip to tame your animals. Snap it back at the right time to create devastating combos which clear the screen with stunning fireworks shows! How long can you survive against the Three-Ring Swarm? See project page here.
Role: Scrummaster
- Lakeside Sunset (2006)
Lakeside Sunset was a 5-min Visual “novel” made around a piece of music. It was primarily a practice piece for me to get used to making works using the Ren’Py engine. On a lazy summer evening, a young man thinks back to the girl he met and the promise he made two years ago, at this very lake. See forum and download link here.
Role: Writer, programmer, director, producer
- The Hearts Game (2006)
The Hearts Game was a student project made as coursework for a game design module. It’s a social card game centered around the themes of flirtation and dating. For 3-8 players.
Role: Game Designer
- Elementary! (2006)
Elementary! is a two-player strategy board game featuring a unique combination of tile-laying, spellcasting and unit combat mechanics to win. A personal project.
Role: Game creator and designer.
Writing
I have written a bunch of mostly short stories and flashfics as fanfiction for the following anime/manga series: Naruto, Bleach, School Rumble and H2. You can find them on my Fanfiction.net profile. The stories I’m proudest of are Five Pins, Sitting on a Tree, Forbidden, Let Me Hear You, and So They Said.
I worked as a volunteer quest and storylines writer (and eventually head of the storylines team) for an indie MMORPG called Eternal Lands, for about 2 years. Although eventually the creators decided to shift away to a different storyline focus, I’m still very proud of the work I did there. You can read them here.
- Voice of Hope stories
I first started writing stories for an audience when I was asked to write stories for my church newsletter. These were usually inspirational stories, set for the Christmas and Easter issues. Still in the process of trying to find them and put them up, but you can download the Voice of Hope newsletters here.
